General Kayaking FAQs

Paddling Experience

You don't need to be an expert kayaker to enjoy our trips! Paddling will naturally be more difficult for beginners than experts, but a positive attitude and a desire to learn are all it take to have fun. Our boats are very safe and easy-to-use, and we strive to provide experiences that everyone can enjoy regardless of their skill level.

We welcome all levels of kayakers on our trips! Our paddling experience is at your own pace & tends to be quite leisurely.

The tandem kayaks we use are wider and much more stable than canoes or other kayaks. We will go over paddling technique and guidelines to keep you safe and dry at the beginning of your trip. Safety is our priority; we hope everyone feels comfortable.

As a general rule, we recommend paddlers are at least 18 years of age, or accompanied by a parent/guardian. We have tandem kayaks that hold multiple people and are a great option when pairing kids and adults. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any concerns.

Do I need to bring my own paddling gear?

We provide PFDs (life jackets) and paddles. We have dry bags available upon request. If you have your own PFD, paddling jacket, waterproof phone case, dry bag or personal paddle, you are welcome to bring it.

What should I bring on the water?

Water Bottle, Snacks, Sun Protection (Hat, Sunglasses, Sunscreen, Bandana), Footwear that can get wet.

Do we still paddle if the weather is bad?

We do not take advance payments for your kayaking trip - so rescheduling due to poor weather is not a problem!
